The History of Roses

Even in prehistoric times were known, and roses, there are hundreds of varieties. Every year, planted over 30 million new roses. Even before people there were roses on the ground, as evidenced by fossil finds in Europe and America. In the northern temperate zone, they grew wild and formed during the development of forms of small bush to a powerful climber.

The primary mode is the wild rose, of which there are at least 150 different varieties. The majority comes from Asia. With few exceptions, all single flowers with five petals.

Black spot defoliated roses

From July to present yourself places roses without leaves. Behind this lies the problem mostly black spot. Of this fungal disease in addition to the Hybrid teas and the increasingly popular shrub roses and climbing roses are affected.

At first the typical ground-leaves, dark to black, star-shaped spots appear on the leaf surface. In the course of the disease, the leaves turn yellow and fall off, stick commended the roses until midsummer. Leafless plants have little chance of new blooms, the shoots can not form a timber and not mature, resulting in a decreased frost resistance with the result.

In spring cut roses

Spring is the perfect time to prepare the roses for the summer. Now the foundation for healthy plant development is laid. Through the intersection to reach a breezy and relaxed growth of roses and thus reduces the risk of infestation by fungi.

Old, dead and inward-growing wood must be cut out. Also be removed from all roses wild shoots. Wild instincts are called branches that sprout below the graft union at the root collar and make the precious places competition.

Wild roses and shrub roses are blooming again not cut back each year because it only on the perennial wooden flowers produce and therefore need the older branches to grow luxuriantly.
